Later the senator proposed to Jackie in 1953 and they got engaged. And got married on September 12. 1953 at Saint Mary’s Church in Rhode Island. At the time of their marriage, John was about 36 while Jacqueline was 24.

When Jackie was 46 years old, the time when she was twice widowed, moved back to New York. In 1975, she accepted a job as a publisher in Viking Press. But within 3 years, she left the job in 1978 due to a book in which the assassination of Ted Kennedy was shown.

Jackie then joined Doubleday as an editor and started work for them. There she met her long time friend Maurice Tempelsman.

They started dating each other and in no time, Maurice was moved to Jacqueline’s fifth avenue apartment and he remained her partner for the rest of her life. Their bond was the strongest among all of the Jackies’s marriages.

Jackie never forgot President Kennedy, instead, she kept memorializing her ex-husband in maintaining both the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and the JFK Memorial Library in Massachusetts.
