Early Life and Biography

Jones was born on January 31, 1950, in a Spanish Town, Saint Catherine, Jamaica. His father Bishop Robert was a politician and apostolic clergyman. He has six siblings.

His childhood was spent with his siblings and parents. His one sister became an actress later on and his one brother is a singer. In 1965,  his parents along with him and his two siblings Chris and Grace moved to Syracuse, New York.

Jones received his early school education from St. Jago High School. Later he went on to attend Aenon Bible College to attain the degree of Bachelor of Science in Theology. Later on, he received the honorary degree of a doctorate from the International Circle of Faith college in reward of his services as a pastor.

When he was just 19 years of age, he received his first call to ministry. After completing his education he became the pastor at Bethel Temple of Longview in Longview, Texas.

Current Ministry

Currently, he has been working as the senior pastor of City of Refuge Church in Gardena, California. He got associated with the Church in 1994. In June 1994, he was appointed as the successor to Bishop Robert W. McMurray.

At that time, the church had about 1,000 members. The church was known as the Greater Bethany Community Church. His tenure marked a significant increase in the membership of the church.

Amid the growing membership of the church, a new building was allocated to the church in Gardena, California. This sanctuary is named the City of Reuge and hosts almost 17,000 members and the number is still growing.

Besides preaching the church is also active in other affairs of life. The church launched its choir called the City of Refuge Sanctuary Choir. The debut album of the choir was released in 2007.

This album got a great response from the audience. It was ranked as number one on Billboard’s top gospel albums chart. Moreover, the album was also ranked on Billboard 200 chart.

Documentary Film

A documentary film on Greater Bethany Church was also released in 2002. The title of the film was Hoover Street Revival. The film was directed and produced by English director and producer Sophie Fiennes.

Personal Life

According to some sources, Noel Jones got married to one of his female friends Loretta. At that, he was just 16 years of age. He is currently divorced but has three children. His siblings went on to adopt various professions.

The most famous of his siblings is the singer Grace Jones. She is his sister. His family was settled in Jamaica at the time of his birth but later they shifted to New York. Currently, he has been living in California.
